Eleanor (Elle) Tucker is an author, journalist and speaker whose debut novel Turn Back Time explores midlife, identity, and the social pressure on women to stay young forever. Her work is rooted in the messy, brilliant reality of reinvention – the things we hide, the things we laugh about, and the quiet chaos of ageing while female.
Originally from Oxford, Elle started out as an advertising creative, before moving into journalism. She’s written for The Guardian, The Observer, The Independent, Grazia, Red and Psychologies, as well as working with Channel 4 and the BBC. Her features have covered everything from gender politics and beauty standards to social issues and mental health. She’s also hosted podcasts and experienced interviewer, regularly chairing author events and panel discussions.
Now based in Edinburgh, Elle is known for her sharp observational writing and her warm, funny and unfiltered approach to storytelling. Her events and talks draw on her background in publishing, her personal experience of midlife change, and the themes she explores in her fiction – from friendship and family dynamics to confidence, identity and self-worth.
She’s spoken at a wide range of festivals, live events and conferences, and is a sought-after chair and moderator for author Q&As and panel sessions. She is especially drawn to conversations about reinvention, resilience and the ways women adapt (or resist adapting) to the roles that society tries to assign them.
Elle is represented by 42 Management & Production for writing and screenwriting. Her non-fiction debut, Thanks for Sharing (Aurum, 2023), explored the rise of the sharing economy and her attempts to give up buying altogether.
