Hazel Robertson
From a solo ski crossing of Europe’s largest high-mountain plateau, to running six marathons in seven days in the Sahara desert, to traveling human powered across Alaska to raise awareness of the impacts of climate change, to launching an international coaching and training business, Hazel thrives on setting huge, terrifying goals that require her to continually move through discomfort and fear.
As she explains in her talks, this discomfort is the ticket to our dreams.
Hazel, who is an ‘Explorer in Residence’ for the Royal Scottish Geographical Society, an Arctic guide for youth charity, The Polar Academy, and co-founder of Everyday Impact, shows powerfully in her talks that we are all capable of so much more than we realise and how to harness our minds to do more than we could ever imagine.
On expedition, whether alongside Luke, her husband, or solo, Hazel found that one of the most powerful things she could do was training her brain to think differently about situations that would normally seem challenging. To see the opportunities – for growth, for humour, for humanness – in every obstacle.
Now, through mindset coaching, she helps busy and ambitious purpose-driven entrepreneurs and businesses do the same. She helps people overcome stress and anxiety, ditching busyness as a badge of honour and instead create balance in their lives, all while taking their results to the next level and doing things they never believed possible.
Time is the most valuable resource we have; Hazel helps people make the most of every single day to live the fullest life possible.
Her talks weave in stories from executing remote purpose-driven expeditions, along with simple and practical tools from mindset coaching. She takes the audience on a journey of twists and turns, while celebrating the wonder of the natural world and the simple joy in everyday moments. She thrives on leaving her audiences with belief of what’s possible for them and feeling energised to make it happen.
Hazel is passionate about living sustainably. Witnessing the impacts of climate change firsthand in Alaska left a huge impact on her, and in 2019 she undertook a month-long ski and filming expedition in Arctic Norway focusing on climate justice and documenting how climate change and the solutions to it are affecting the people who live there.
With a changing climate, oftentimes people can feel overwhelmed by the scale of the problem and where to start, but Hazel shows how to turn overwhelm into action, so we can truly make a difference. She helps people move beyond fear and overwhelm to create the courage to do things they never thought possible. This helps them make more impact in the world.
Her talks are fun, inspiring, honest and practical. Her mission is to leave the audience with things they can take away and immediately implement to make positive changes in their own lives.
Hazel has a science background and has worked in a variety of companies, from multinationals, to start-ups, to a fast-paced consultancy. She’s led international teams to deliver multi million pound climate mitigation projects and now runs Everyday Impact coaching and training with Luke. She’s been featured on BBC Radio 4, Radio Scotland and national newspapers and has spoken at and hosted events for a wide range of audiences, including the NHS, Dundee Mountain Film Festival, The Herald on Sunday newspaper, DAKS clothing, The Royal Scottish Geographical Society’s ‘Inspiring People’ talks, Tiso and other organisations, from policy think tanks and schools, to nonprofits and local councils.
