Less than two years after life-saving brain surgery and with an artificial pacemaker attached to his heart, in 2016 Luke became the youngest Brit – and the first Scot – to ski unsupported, 730 miles over 40 days, solo to the South Pole. Yet, although these experiences have helped shape him he doesn’t let them define him.
Instead, while facing and then reflecting on these and other life-altering experiences, Luke began searching for answers to some big questions. What caused him to reframe his health challenges as some of life’s greatest opportunities? What generates his decision-making under pressure on expeditions? What allowed him to push through mentally and physically exhausting expeditions, and past discomfort, doubt and fear?
Soon, he began to apply what he discovered not just to situations on future expeditions and endurance races, but also to moments in his own career and in everyday life. Now, equipped with the tools to share, and as a certified Mindset Coach, he helps others transform their own lives.

As co-founder of Everyday Impact Coaching, he’s on a mission to help break down all our self-limiting beliefs. To help us move through discomfort and onto the version of ourself we’ve always imagined, but never really believed possible. To show us all that mastering our mindset is the most important work we can ever do and the key to unlocking all our power and potential.
As someone who considered his time might be up at the age of 23 when diagnosed with a serious heart condition, he’s acutely aware that time is truly our most precious asset of all. Through the power of coaching and leaning on his experiences in planning and tackling epic expeditions and endurance events across the globe, to driving climate change solutions for the United Nations, he helps purpose-driven entrepreneurs move beyond busyness and overwhelm, and find the courage and confidence to create the positive impact they want in their lives and the world.
Luke, alongside his wife Hazel, is an ‘Explorer-in-Residence’ at the Royal Scottish Geographical Society and an Arctic guide for youth charity, The Polar Academy. As a passionate environmentalist, he has led expeditions to the Arctic to understand and witness firsthand the human and physical impact of the climate crisis in this region and is a passionate advocate for accelerated, sustainable change in our world as we tackle the climate crisis.
Expeditions include leading a south-to-north kayak and bike expedition through the wilderness of Alaska, a crossing of the Finnmark Plateau in Arctic Scandinavia to document the effects of climate change to people and place, climbing Mont Blanc and, as a keen ultra endurance runner, completing the 100 mile Pennine Barrier, the 156 mile Marathon des Sables and the 250 mile Cape Wrath Ultra. As he explains, often his very first hurdle to overcome when planning any challenge is often securing the medical clearance to set off.
As well as being a TEDx speaker, Luke has spoken for a wide range of audiences including: The Royal Bank of Scotland, JHA, Franklin Templeton, The NHS, Credit Suisse, DAKS, Franklin Templeton, Baillie Gifford, The Leith Agency, Mountain Film Festivals and schools. He’s been featured on BBC Breakfast, BBC Radio 4 and various national and international newspapers and magazines.
