Having pushed himself to the limits of human endurance during a number of epic expeditions around the world, Luke talks from the heart about overcoming personal health conditions and ultimately encouraging, inspiring and motivating others to tackle challenges head on, explore the world and achieve their own goals in life.
Luke, alongside his wife Hazel, is an ‘Explorer-in-Residence’ at the Royal Scottish Geographical Society and an Arctic guide for the children’s charity, The Polar Academy. His inspiring talks draw on his many remarkable adventures and achievements, which show others how much can be achieved with a positive mindset and determination.
Having explored and witnessed the changes taking place on the planet and worked for the United Nations, Luke is also passionate about the environment and making a positive difference to climate change.
Overcoming obstacles and turning fear into an opportunity is something Luke speaks passionately about thanks to his own personal experiences.
In 2016 for example, less than two years after undergoing brain surgery and with an artificial pacemaker, Luke became the youngest Brit, the first Scot and one of less than 20 people in history to ski 730 miles solo and unsupported to the South pole.
Luke also talks on the topics of:
- overcoming extreme challenges
- teamwork
- resilience
- goal-setting and achievement
- the environment
- exploring the world
- positive mindset
These include a world-first kayak and bike expedition through Alaska, running the 156 mile Marathon des Sables in the Sahara Desert and climbing the highest mountain in Western Europe, Mont Blanc.
Luke is an ambassador for Marie Curie and the Greener Scotland Campaign. As well as being a TEDx speaker, Luke has delivered presentations for various audiences including, among others, The House of Lords, Credit Suisse, Edinburgh Mountain Film Festival, the Royal Bank of Scotland, and school pupils.
Luke is available to speak individually and also alongside his wife, Hazel.
