On Friday 10 January 2020, Mollie achieved her goal of becoming the youngest woman in the world to ski solo from the coast of Antarctica to the South Pole.
Mollie (then 29) reached the Geographic South Pole after eight hugely challenging weeks and 650 hours of skiing alone in whiteouts, storm-force winds and temperatures hitting minus 45C.
During the expedition, she pulled a sled weighing 105kg, the equivalent of the average international rugby player, and skied alone for between 10 and 12 hours a day.
This was Mollie’s second world record breaking achievement, as in May 2017 (aged 26) she became the youngest woman in the world – and the first English woman – to successfully summit from both the north and south sides of the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest.
On 1 December 2020, Mollie was elected as the President of Scouts Scotland, becoming the first woman to hold the position.
Mollie uses her experiences to inspire others. In her talks, she covers topic such as:
- how to achieve absolutely anything with the right mindset
- developing determination and self-belief
- the importance of team work
- controlling fear
- building resilience in business and on a personal level
A passionate and imaginative speaker, her talks are backed up with exciting first-hand photographs and footage to make it feel as if you are climbing Mount Everest or skiing to the South Pole alongside her.
Mollie first fell in love with the mountains at the age of 17 when she joined a school expedition to climb Mount Kenya. She has climbed in the Indian Himalayas, the Nepalese Himalayas, Volcanos of Ecuador, North and East Africa and has spent much time in the European Alps and of course the mountains of the UK.
