Born in Saudi Arabia, raised in Egypt and now based in the UK, Nour is a senior tech professional who has been on a remarkable life journey, which at times almost seemed impossible, but shows the value of personal qualities such as courage and resilience, as well as the importance of supportive, inclusive corporate working cultures.
Assigned male at birth and having grown up in the middle east, Nour embraced her true identity in 2014, a brave decision that put her in a direct collision course with the society she lived in and resulted in traumas that she had to endure.
With invaluable support from her previous employer Vodafone, Nour moved to the UK in 2015 to continue her gender transition journey and develop her career in specialist IT leadership roles.
In England, Nour faced additional challenges due to being an immigrant and from an ethnic minority. Yet, with supportive employers, colleagues, strong self-belief and a new-found religious faith with the Church of England, Nour has thrived personally and professionally.
Nour is a strong believer in the power of storytelling and now shares her experiences to help others find their way forward. Recently she spoke in the House of Commons on International Women’s Day.
Some of the themes she explores in her talks and content include:
- Confidence, courage and resilience
- Creating diverse and inclusive workplace cultures
- Caring for LGBTQ+ employees
- Chartering a roadmap to Trans inclusion
- Faith & LGBTQ+
